Velcro Vs. Snaps

When I started cloth diapering, it was all velcro, I made them myself, and velcro just seemed SO much easier than any other option.  Once he started getting more mobile, and curious (that still hasn't stopped!) My DS started taking off his diaper... as some of you know, the first time that happens is usually the worst because it was when he woke up from his nap, and had a full cloth diaper of poop...

Cloth Diapers and Daycare

Can cloth diapers and daycare really work together?  You bet they can! Cloth diapers today are so simple to use, grandparents and dad's are using them, and so can the awesome childcare providers who are taking care of your child.  After all they want what is best for your child, and who can argue with the awesomeness that is cloth!

Selling your diapers!

Have you decided to sell off your newborn stash of cloth diapers?  Or maybe you are ready to move onto the next size up.  Perhaps through trial and error you found one type of diapers that work just perfect for your little one, and want to sell off the others to buy more!  Whatever your reason, cloth diapers have a great resale value, especially if you have treated them well!

How many cloth diapers do I need??

Before you read today's post, everyone please take a moment and give thought to all those whose lives have been lost and have been affected 11 years ago today, September 11, 2001.  We will never forget.

Once you make it through the Newborn stage, relatively unskathed, you will find cloth diapering just as easy, if not easier, since you don't have to deal with Meconium *insert happy dance here!* You may be wondering how many diapers you will need to get you through to potty training, it's not as bad as you think and less than a 20th of what you would need if you were using disposables!

Diaper stains be gone!

Sometimes you just want to cry, when those cute diapers you just bought get stained.  I know I do because they are not so cute with a big brown poop stain inside, or a big orange carrot stain on the outside because we fed babes without clothes on!  There are a few steps to be taken when it comes to stains, but the easiest and in my opinion the best method for removing stains is...

Needing a good strip

Have you got a case of the stinkies?  Or are your diapers starting to repel?  Maybe they are leaking when they never leaked before?  You are in need of a good strip!  It's easy and should do just the trick!

Diaper Lingo

There are many terms when it comes to cloth diapers, and lots of letters, this is more of a list of definitions than a blog post, but boy was I happy to learn these, I couldn't imagine what people were talking about when I started with cloth, I know I won't get all of them, but here is a list and I will keep adding to it!

Washing for newbies and dirties

How do you wash cloth diapers? Do you dunk them in the toilet? Isn't it gross? These are all common questions when you mention cloth diapers, and washing cloth diapers are easier than most people think.  Do you need vinegar? Baking Soda? Hot water? Cold water? More soap? Less soap? Expensive soap? So many questions, such simple solution.

Why wouldn't you want to cloth diaper?!

We are trying for our third child, and I can tell you there is no way I am using disposables, the biggest decision I am having right now, is "should I buy more now or later... and what will hubby say if I do buy more now!" HAHA!  My hubby is very supportive of my cloth diapering addiction, but since we are still trying to get pregnant, he frequently suggests that we hold off buying more until we are actually pregnant.... which makes sense.... mostly... kinda... but I want to buy them now!!!

Not just cloth diapers...

Once I had the cloth diapering thing down, I knew I had to look into the extra's.  And extra's there are a few, some we need, some we want, and some just make sense, but all have a use.  I'm here to break them down for you starting with pail liners...

Cloth, Cloth, Everywhere... but which type should baby wear?

When I thought of cloth diapering many years ago, I thought of big flat pieces of white cloth, folding, pinning, plastic pants, dunking poop in the toilet and washing yucky, old-fashioned diapers.  Boy, was I wrong! I started researching on-line, I didn't know anyone that used cloth diapers in this day and age, but I wanted to try it, when I saw what cloth diapers REALLY were, I was excited, they are SO cute and SO easy, there are so many different types, I knew I would find one that worked for me!
