Diaper stains be gone!

Sometimes you just want to cry, when those cute diapers you just bought get stained.  I know I do because they are not so cute with a big brown poop stain inside, or a big orange carrot stain on the outside because we fed babes without clothes on!  There are a few steps to be taken when it comes to stains, but the easiest and in my opinion the best method for removing stains is...
SunShine!  That's right, when you notice a stain on the diaper or insert, just take the clean diaper outside (or lay it in a sunny window, but outside works better) and lay it stain side up to the sun, it may take a couple hours or a few days depending on how dark the stain is, but soon enough it should fade into nothingness!  This is the safest stain removal method for cloth diapers, and definitely a household favourite!
OxyClean - The #2 choice for stain removal, fill your washing machine with the clean but stained diapers, add enough water to cover the diapers and add a scoop of oxyclean, let the washine machine aggitate for a few minutes, just long enough to mix up the diapers and the oxyclean, then finish the wash and run an extra rinse.  Always check with the manufacturer before using OxyClean so as not to void any warranties or damage the diapers.
Detergent Paste - Take your favourite cloth diaper detergent powder and mix it with enough water to make a paste, then rub it onto your clean stained diaper (a toothbrush works great) let it sit for a bit, then wash as normal.
Peroxide - Adding 1/4 cup of peroxide to your wash can help with stain removal, but please check with the manufacturer about warranties and if it can damage the diapers before you try it.
Bleach - This is our last resort as bleach can do bad things to diapers.  It can cause the waterproof layer to deteriorate, delaminate and stop working, elastics start to break down, and can cause really bad diaper burn on babies bum.  If you really want to use bleach, fill the washer with water add a 1/4 cup of bleach to water, let it aggitate some to mix up the bleach, THEN add the diapers that are stained.  ALWAYS do an extra rinse, to make sure you get all the bleach and residue out so it doesn't hurt babes!
De-staining diapers should always be done on clean diapers - give them a wash with your regular detergent, do NOT dry them in the dryer, this will help the stain set, and make it harder to get out, if you don't have time to battle the stain right after washing just let it air dry and tackle it later.
